Opportunity

As the Application Developer, you will be joining our talented engineering team and will work to build out more advanced capabilities to our ever-growing education offerings. This role is at the heart of ReachWell's trajectory, bringing the vision of our future product to reality.

This role will work closely with the CTO in developing new features, fixing errors, improving performance, and troubleshooting frontend and backend code. Feedback and opinions are highly valued and encouraged to make a direct impact on direction of the product.

To be successful in this role, you will need extensive knowledge of programming philosophies to produce high quality code. This is an exciting role that requires you to work both independently and with our passionate team of educators, entrepreneurs, and engineers. The ideal candidate is a problem solver who rolls up their sleeves to build resilient high-performance systems, will bring an eye for design, and is detail oriented.

The Developer will be responsible for taking direction troubleshooting both frontend and backend code and developing feature enhancements. The ideal Developer will have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, be able to work both independently and within a team, demonstrate a willingness to learn, and have the ability to produce high quality code.

Responsibilities

• Implement quality solutions using CakePHP framework according to the technical specification.

• Troubleshoot server/application issues written in PHP code.

• Prioritize and proactively manage the tickets that are assigned.

• Provide solutions to allow systems to scale. 

• Proactively communicate issues or delays to leadership.

• Sets high standards for personal conduct and work.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional experience coding with PHP or equivalent web application programming language (Ruby, Java, Python, etc.).

• Experience with CakePHP preferred.

• Proficiency in object-oriented development.

• Ability to interact with relational databases (preferably MySQL) both through the application and directly through raw SQL queries. 

• Able to communicate clearly about technical topics.

• Familiarity with CSS and HTML design standards.

• Experience using Linux command line.

• Understanding of modern development (Git, SVN, etc), deployment (CI/CD), and QA (Selenium, Cypress) best practices.

• Willingness to learn and grow.
